Luna (Moon)
The crescent is an alchemical symbol of the moon and silver, and it represents soul.
In Indian Philosophy and Astrology, the Moon is associated with the Mind (Manas). It is spiritually understood that the moon helps the soul to tie to the body.
“The moon (manas) means reflective knowledge, understanding, consciousness, truth. Consciousness ( or psyche) unified with the subtle body (lingam) creates the holy gathering. ”
Waves (Water)
Inverted triangle is the Alchemical symbol of Water, which represents intuition and female energy. It is a symbol of mercury and colour blue.
“To understand water is to understand the cosmos, the marvel of nature, life itself.”
Alchemy can be considered the predecessor of modern-day Chemistry. It is often dismissed as pseudoscience, and associated with spirituality, religion, and esoteric world. It alludes to transforming base metal and water into gold and immortality.
Some say Alchemy is an ancient branch of natural philosophy. A philosophical and prescientific tradition from China, India, Middle East, and Europe. In this realm of understanding, Alchemy is the goal of attaining self realisation through transformation and transmutation in 7 stages.
Stage 2 is known as Dissolution, which is the stage that we free ourselves from our inauthentic persona and acquired sense of identity. The metaphor of dissolving in water, washing away darkness bringing emotions to the surface. The alchemy sign of water here symbolizes the unconscious hidden parts of ourselves of which we are afraid of and up until now have not explored.
There is so much mankind has yet to explore, discover, learn and understand. In today’s world of structured scientific measurement, quantitative and qualitative evidence, much of ancient traditions are dismissed for lack of substantial proof of existence. Afterall, esoteric means something that is not easily understood.
It is therefore interesting to read about how researchers from Czech academy of sciences have succeeded in turning water for a brief time into gold colored metallic material with electrical conducting properties.
